Beginners Guide to Rocket League Camera and Control Settings

If you are new to Rocket League, default bindings and camera settings often hold you back. The game does not explain why certain choices work at high level, so many players spend hours adjusting from a weak starting point. This guide gives you a better baseline: pro settings. Copy them first, then personalize only after you are used to them. The advice here is controller agnostic. Whether you use Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro, or any standard layout with two sticks, four face buttons, four shoulder buttons, and two triggers, the same ideas apply.

In this post you will learn why beginners should start from pro settings, get three pro configs you can copy (Zen, Daniel, and Dralii), and see exactly what to change first in your camera and controls. By the end you will have a clear path from default setup to a setup that supports growth instead of limiting it.

Setting Recommended
FOV 110
Distance 270 (or 260 to 280)
Camera shake Off
Boost Upper shoulder button (bumper)
Directional air roll Upper shoulder button (bumper)

Camera settings screen (FOV, height, angle, distance, stiffness, swivel, transition, camera shake)

Pros use a narrow band of camera and control settings because that band works at the highest level. For beginners, that same band is the right starting point. You avoid the trap of tuning from a weak baseline and instead build habits on settings that already solve the problems that matter.

Those problems are consistent across controllers. The table below sums up why pro settings beat defaults.

Defaults Pro baseline

2025 Review

Prejump started as a place to find Rocket League training packs. Players could browse, search, and discover new packs to practice with. It was useful, but it was just a directory.

In 2025, that changed. Prejump transformed from a simple directory into a complete training platform. Players can now follow structured training programs, test their knowledge through games, and track their progress over time. The platform guides players through improvement instead of just pointing them to resources.

This transformation happened through three major features that launched this year: Routines, Games, and Premium. Each one addressed a different need that players had, and together they created something more valuable than the sum of their parts.

Here’s what changed, why it matters, and what we learned along the way.

2025 Feature Comparison
Feature Purpose Key Benefit 2025 Adoption
Routines Structured training programs Builds skill through guided practice Over 130 players started, nearly 50 completed
Games Knowledge testing with scoring Builds habit through daily engagement Over 50 players, over 100 sessions
Premium Unlimited access and exclusive content Unlocks full platform experience Nearly 20 subscribers

Most players know they need to practice to improve, but knowing what to practice and when to practice it is harder. Without structure, practice becomes random. You might work on one skill today, a different skill tomorrow, and forget what you practiced last week. Progress happens slowly, if at all.

Routines solve this problem by providing structure. Instead of randomly picking training packs, players follow complete training pr...

10 Best Rocket League Workshop Maps for Fast Skill Improvement

Speed Rings 3

Rocket League is a game of mechanics, and while casual play and ranked experience are important, they often don’t offer the focused repetition needed to actually level up your skillset. That’s where workshop maps come in. Built by the community, these maps provide targeted, often beautifully designed environments where you can refine your control, decision-making, and consistency – all without the stress of live matches.

But let’s be honest: not all workshop maps are created equal. Some are fun but mechanically shallow. Others look great but don’t translate well to actual gameplay. For this list, I’ve handpicked ten workshop maps that deliver real improvement. Every map here was chosen because it directly helps with in-game mechanics that matter – aerial control, dribbling, shooting, positioning, recoveries, and more.

Whether you’re a rising Diamond or already in high Champ, these maps will give you focused, high-quality reps that accelerate your growth far more than simply queuing up for another 3v3 match.

Rank Map Primary Focus Difficulty Deep Study?
1 Immortals Tower Overall car control, efficiency Intermediate – Advanced Optional
2 Hornet’s Nest Recoveries, movement, reactions Beginner – Intermediate No
3 True Neutral’s True Shot Game-like shooting reads Intermediate – Advanced No

In this post, we’ll explore how mastering mechanical skills can dramatically improve your performance, regardless of your current rank.

To climb the competitive ladder in Rocket League, it’s crucial to hone a set of core mechanical skills. Here’s a breakdown of the most important skills and how to train them effectively.

A perfect first touch is the ability to control the ball the moment it comes into contact with your car. This skill is fundamental because it sets up subsequent plays, creating space and time for your next move. The setup phase in Rocket League is often more crucial than the execution itself. Proper setups dictate the ease and effectiveness of your final action, whether it’s a shot on goal, a pass, or a defensive clear. For example, a well-placed aerial setup can make a seemingly difficult shot much more manageable.

Advanced car control is the backbone of high-level Rocket League play. Mastering these moves can give you an edge over your opponents, allowing for more precise and effective gameplay. Here are some crucial moves to focus on:
